VOCALE 2024 CONFERENCE March 22nd. Vermont State University, Castleton Campus This year's theme is Student Engagement and Student Directed Learning. Carolina Gómez is a Colombian language educator with over 20 years of experience. She holds a B.A. in Languages and Education from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, and a Master's degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She is currently a PreK-3 Spanish teacher at an independent school in Cambridge, MA. Carolina combines her passion for teaching her language and culture through stories in the classroom. She enjoys connecting and creating a community with other educators through her blog "Fun for Spanish Teachers," different social media outlets, conferences, and workshops. She will be doing two workshops, one specifically for Elementary Language teachers. Registration/check-in begins at 8:15am, followed by a Welcome from our President, Keri Bristow at 9:00am. 2023 VFLA Spring Conference Friday, March 17th, 2023! Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT. Our Keynote speaker: Abelardo Almazán-Vázquez Abelardo is a Spanish teacher and the WL Department Head at the Putney School in Putney, VT. He is also a Latin Dance Instructor and Head Coach for soccer. His keynote will address this year's theme of Reconnection. Check Abelardo's blog here In the afternoon, we had two hour long sessions :

VFLA Conference 2022
The 2022 VFLA Spring Conference at Castleton University on Friday, April 8th, 2022 was a success.
We had more than fifty participants from all over Vermont. Our keynote Darcy Rogers, founder of Organic World Language (OWL), presented two sessions filled with movement and ready to use strategies. In the afternoon, we had three different sessions: Seal of Biliteracy, Migrant Justice, Community Building, and the always famous Swap shop where teachers exchanged activities and resources. We celebrated the awarded students in the poster's contest and a moving ceremony honoring the 2022 VFLA Distinguished teacher.
